Masters in Paradise

The Vanuatu Rowing Association will hold the 2016 “Masters in Paradise” rowing regatta over Sunday 12 and Monday 13 June 2016 on the stunning Erakor Lagoon at Port Vila, Vanuatu.  The inaugural event held in 2014 was a huge success with over 62 rowers from Australia, New Zealand and Vanuatu, as well as another 30 international spectators and officials.

A brief writeup of the event by can be seen on the World Rowing website.

Registrations for 2016 are now open, all bookings must be done through our Australian or New Zealand agents, even if you are organising your own flights or accomodation.  Due to boat availability and the desire to keep the event at a more personal size, we are restricting rower numbers to 85.  Because of this we reserve the right to close off entries and/or ballot for the limited places should that be necessary.

While only sixyears old, the Vanuatu Rowing Association and the Port Vila Rowing Club has exploded onto the sporting scene in Vanuatu.  While spearheaded by a small number of determined ex-patriots, the club is now dominated by ni-Vanuatu members who can be seen training each morning on the warm and tranquil Erakor Lagoon.

This is also a fundraising activity for the Vanuatu Rowing Association to assist in purchasing new boats and sending crews ovberseas for training and experience.

Our goal is to have a crew or crews compete at the Rio Olympics in 2016 and already we are well on track with a M1x and a LM2x competing with distinction (and belying their novice status) at the 2015 World Championships in France.
